About Me
Hi, everyone! My name is Natasha. I'm a postdoctoral fellow in psychology and neuroscience. I received my PhD in psychology in 2018. About 2 months before my dissertation defense, I started this site along with my Instagram account, @_PhdandMe (formerly @_womanmeetsacademia). During my final two years in graduate school, I spent a lot of time reflecting on the impact of graduate school on my personal life and well-being. Those reflections led me to start this website. I want this to be a space where academics and students alike can connect over shared experiences.
Graduate school and postdoc can be… challenging--intellectually, emotionally, and socially. This site is a space to open up about those challenges. Here, I share my personal experiences in academia and some of the lessons I've learned along the way. On my Instagram, you can capture a glimpse of my daily life as a postdoc.
Most of my posts are focused on issues related to life in academia, but many of the themes discussed here are applicable to life more generally. If nothing else, I hope the experiences I share here remind you that you are not alone!
I hope you like this space. If you ever have any feedback, suggestions, or thoughts to add, please feel free to reach out. You can contact me by direct message on Instagram (@_PhDandMe).
Best wishes,
Natasha
